The following list represents only highlights of most recent CED client success events.
Royal Castle Child Development Center received a 5th star from “Quality Start”, an initiative of the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services. Quality Start maintains a rigorous and ongoing review process of child care centers in the State of Louisiana. Royal Castle is one of only six child care centers in Louisiana to receive 5 stars and the only center in Orleans Parish to have achieved the honor.
Benardett Jno-Finn, owner of Sénica Naturals, was named the SBA’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year” for the State of Louisiana in March 2011.
Golden Feather, LLC hosted its Grand Opening on June 8, 2011. The opening was attended by City Officials as well as CED Executive Directors and other civic leaders.
Availability of NOLA Couture clothing and accessories increased to 10 locations throughout New Orleans and Metairie. Purchases are also available online. NOLA Couture is distinguished in its support of various charitable causes along the Gulf Coast by directing a percentage of specific product sales to non-profit organizations.
Jennifer Medberry, founder of Drop the Chalk was featured on lists compiled by two major business publications. Bloomberg Businessweeknamed Medberry to its list of “America’s Most Promising Social Entrepreneurs” and Inc. magazine listed Medberry on its “30 Under 30” list of young business owners on the verge of major success. Drop the Chalk currently has 15 paying customers with 30 schools on the client wait list.
Cordina Mar-Go-Rita has grown to over $3M in annual revenue since their start in 2007. Revenue projections for 2011 top $7M. Cordina now operates in two facilities employing 44 locally. The Mar-Go-Rita product is distributed in 40 states as well as Puerto Rico and Guam.
Naked Pizza has grown from a single location on S. Claiborne Ave. in 2009 to a franchise conglomerate of 450 stores under contract with 70 more to be opened by the end of 2011. Naked Pizza employs over 40 people in its New Orleans headquarters and helped create over 250 related jobs in 2010
