Business and Home Inventory Professionals

Prior to the storm, Michael Hall owned his own tax service franchise. However, as with many New Orleans entrepreneurs, the business was lost following the hurricane. After witnessing all of the challenges that residents faced with insurance companies, Hall decided to start a business that would document property and provide a complete written, digital and video inventory to protect people against the unexpected. The full documentation services would help to maximize the filing of insurance claims, to ease the claim process and to save time for owners of residential, commercial and rental properties. From his idea, the venture Business and Home Inventory Professionals LLC was born.

While working to turn his idea into a business venture, he learned about the Good Work Network. Once he learned about the Network's technical and financial resources, Hall was soon working with the Good Work Network to develop a strategic marketing plan that included an aggressive cable television campaign. The Good Work Network also provided over 19 hours of legal assistance, business referrals, web design and coaching which expanded his idea from a residential service to a residential and commercial service. In addition to the technical assistance, Good Work Network also connected Hall to a $1,000 grant and a $2,000 loan to support his efforts to reopen. Working by himself, the technical and financial assistance made available by Good Work Network through CED will hopefully allow him to successfully maintain his business.
